Who are we?

Robert Brault said, "Know thyself, or at least keep renewing the acquaintance."

God is working through His church in Kalkaska. It's an exciting time to be a part of KCC! If you feel like you don't know a lot of people at church, you are in good company! There are so many new faces, it's hard to keep up! But that's okay too. It's not as important that we know the other "sheep" as we all know the "Shepherd!"

So given there are so many new to our church Body, I thought it appropriate to share a few of the principles that guide us as a church. Here is a list of five key points that guide us as a New Testament church.

  • We are a Bible believing church - So many churches say that and then take their cues from a denomination, a headquarters, or a large congregation. But honestly, we have no book but the Bible and no creed but Christ. While it's true we may use other books, and listen to other speakers, they are all simply commentary to the perfect word of God, the Bible.
  • We are an independent, self-governed church- Jesus set up his church to be led by a plurality of Elders with Himself as the head. There are currently 10 active Elders managing and directly KCC's staff, mission, and vision
  • We claim our origin back to the Bible - KCC is part of a little known movement called "The Restoration Movement." Our goal is to restore the church of Jesus Christ back to it's roots as established by Jesus and the first Apostles in Acts chapter 2.
  • We teach salvation as laid out in the Bible - Hearing the Gospel, Believing in Jesus, Confessing Him as Lord, Repenting of sin, Water baptism by immersion, and Obedience are all part of saving us from our sins and bringing us back into a right relationship with God, our creator.
  • All members are ministers - Ephesians 4:11-13 teaches that God's people should be equipped for works of service so that the Body would be built up. 1 Peter 2:9 states that we are all priests working together to proclaim salvation and the forgiveness of sins to everyone.
